A Movie and Award.....

Well, I don't know about you, but I have the day off today.  Yayyyy!  I have spent most of the weekend just hanging out at home with my handsome hubby.  He has lots of homework to do, as usual.  I watched a couple of dvd's, among them a new release on dvd, "Gone Baby Gone".  This movie stars Casey Affleck, Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris and Michelle Monahan.  And how can you go wrong with Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris, right?  The movie was adapted on a book and was directed by Ben Affleck.  Ben helped to write the screenplay, too.  He can write better then he can act, as evidenced by his Oscar with Matt Damon for "Good Will Hunting".  (Yes, the Oscar was for writing, not acting....)  And apparently, Ben can direct OK, too.  The movie was pretty good!  A couple of twists, good acting....The movie takes place in Boston (Ben & Casey's home town).  A lot of Bostonians (is that a word?) are used in the film.  It sounds like, based on the special features on the dvd, instead of hiring a bunch of movie extras from all over, they used a lot of people from the neighborhoods in Boston for the movie.  I commend them for that!  There is some violence in the movie, so if you prefer to avoid any violence in a movie, this probably isn't for you.  For other people, though, I thought that it was worth seeing!

On a completely different change of subject.....I got a "You Make My Day" award from my good friend Robert over at Observations from the Back 40!  What a great award!  Thanks, Robert!

Makeday

I have already posted this award on the side of my blog in the official "award" place.  Here are the rules for the award:

RULES:
1. Write a post with links to five blogs that make my day.
2. Acknowledge the post of the award giver.
3. Display the “You Make My Day Award” logo.
4. Tell the award winners that they have won by commenting on their blogs or emailing them the news.

So I am passing this award on to:

Sayangku Azura
Rotus
DrowseyMonkey
Jesse Blogs It All
Auntie Dar's Life

These are all blogs that I enjoy on a daily basis and want to make sure that each of you know that you are appreciated.  Ultimately, it is up to each of you if you want to pass this award on or not.....that part is completely optional.

In the meantime, I hope that you enjoy the rest of your day!

Eric-Thank you! And I hope that you like the movie, if you see it!

Dar-It was my pleasure and feel better soon!

Jesse-Sounds good! I'll be over to see it.

Gone Baby Gone? I will take your good advice!

Looks like you have garnished yourself some awards and been busy here as well. Congrats to you Julie

...one to another post!!

Jesse-I'm glad that my post on the jalapeno peppers helped! It is good that only your mouth was still tingling...

Azura-I'm glad that you like the award! I heart you, too! :-)

Thank you for this award and I am really touched+happy! I will definitely do this, when I got back later.xoxox I heart Julie

The movie soudsinteresting.Glad you had a nice day off.Congrats on your award,Julie. and How sweet of you to pass it my way. It really made my day brighter ! Thanks so much.

I just want to add that my friend got me a few jalapenos fresh from the farm somewhere here...and I recalled your advice and protected my hands while cutting them up.I actually took pics of them,as its the first time I even knew they were available here.As a chilli lover I put a few tiny pieces on a sandwich with cheese just to test their potency...and to say the least my mouth is still tingling days later, lol
Ciao :)

DrowseyMonkey-My pleasure! No, I haven't seen "23". I don't think that I have ever heard of it, actually. But you are right, Jim Carrey does a good job in his serious roles. I think, in general, it is a lot easier for comedians to do drama then it is for serious actors to do comedy.

Robert-I think, more accurately, my timing for seeing your post was pretty good. I must have stumbled upon it right after you posted it. Thanks again for the award!

boy your quick....:)))))

Ahhh...thank you sweetie, I really appreciate it :)

The movie sounds good, I saw a few out-takes on tv and I'm looking forward to seeing it. I just watch '23' this weekend wtih Jim Carrey. It was a great concept but the movie fell flat, especially near the end, which is a shame because I thought Jim did a great job - I like when he acts more serious. Have you seen this one?
